There are days when you’re lost and confused
When your mistakes gang up on you
Or all you can see is your failures an inability to move forward
Days when you’re weak
And fear uncertainty and doubt
Are the benchmarks you follow
It’s hard to write on days like these
Cause what can you contribute?
What can you add
But the power to push through anyway
To cancel the shadows of the mind
And allow yourself to blossom into fuller expressions
In spite of the evidence piling up otherwise
Or the derangement of a human mind
These kind of mood fluctuations are of course normal
Part of the human condition
But they are difficult to work your way through at the best of times
Nevermind times like these
With the world lost in a psy opp
A pandemic of fear
The fragile nature of mans psyche on display
For the annals of time to analyze and process
And those of us that feel we are above it
Or can see through it
Are still caught up in it
Are still made victims of it
How could we not be?
But as a parent
You can’t allow yourself to descend into these moods
You can’t indulge in your made up dramas
Even if they’re not made up
Because you child
Wake up each morning with lights in your eyes
and smiles seeking the signals
In us
As to how you should be
What you should process
What you should leave behind
We are here to be your guide
And you know nothing of the state of this world
Other than what we allow through
Other than what we surrender to the innate happiness of waking up with you
A vessel of God
Pursuing relentlessly
The joy that’s innate in your heart
So then you become my teacher
You show me how to put fear to the side
How to decide to smile
How to reflect that back to you
How to honor the gift of being your parent
Your dad
Your father
It’s monday
Today is our day to move
To get after it
Past the fear uncertainty and doubt and into the next adventure
Of our escape from this madness.
